The MBTI is a personality inventory designed to identify psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. It was developed by Isabel Myers and Katharine Briggs based on the work of Carl Jung. The MBTI categorizes people into 16 different personality types, based on four dichotomies:
- Introversion (I) vs. Extraversion (E): How you gain and expend energy. Introverts gain energy from spending time alone, while extroverts gain energy from being around people.
- Sensing (S) vs. Intuition (N): How you take in information. Sensors focus on concrete details and facts, while intuitives focus on possibilities and abstract concepts.
- Thinking (T) vs. Feeling (F): How you make decisions. Thinkers make decisions based on logic and objectivity, while feelers make decisions based on emotions and values.
- Judging (J) vs. Perceiving (P): How you deal with the outer world. Judgers prefer structure and planning, while perceivers prefer flexibility and spontaneity.
